Darien Police say Daniel Buckley, 32, of Milford, turned himself in at police headquarters on Thursday, Oct. 10 around 2:20 p.m.
Officers responded to the area of Hollow Tree Ridge Road near Wee Burn Lane on a report of a single-car crash on Monday, Aug. 5 around 1:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers allegedly observed a 2017 Ford Mustang that had struck roadway signs and crashed into a stone wall.
The driver, later identified as Buckley, allegedly told officers that something was in the road that prompted him to swerve and hit the wall with his vehicle.
Buckley later admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the evening and was displaying signs of intoxication, according to police.
Buckley sustained minor injuries during the crash and was transported to the hospital for treatment, police say.
Investigative officers carried out a search warrant for Buckley’s medical records, which showed that he allegedly had a blood alcohol content of .08 at 3:21 a.m.
Officers subsequently obtained a warrant for Buckley’s arrest. He was charged with DWI and improper turn after turning himself in to police headquarters.
Buckley was issued a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Oct. 21.
